How to Connect to Xbox Live Without Wireless Adapter
An Xbox 360 is nothing without Live content, videos, music, and playing. The first step to getting Live is to connect to the internet. Here is a complete guide on how to connect to Live. If you are connecting directly through a router, scroll down to paragraph two. If you plan to connect directly through a modem, scroll down to paragraph three. For other top solutions to connect to Live, scroll down to paragraph four.
Connecting through a wireless router. This is the most popular method for connecting to live, because you can connect your computer and your console to the internet at the same time. To connect through your router, you will need one ethernet cord (ethernet cords are internet cords that connect devices using a wired connection to the internet). This should not be hard because your Xbox comes with an ethernet cord. You will also need a modem cord that connects your router to the modem (you probably already have this, if your house has wireless internet, don't worry about this cord). After you have these cords, the map should look like this: Console>>>(Ethernet cord)>>>Router>>>(Modem cord)>>>Modem>>>Wall. The cord that connects your Modem to the wall can vary depending on your internet service. Your router may also be connected to a computer, this is okay.
Connecting directly through your Modem. If you connect through your Modem, the console must be the only device connected to the internet. This map is similar to the router map, it looks like this: Console>>>(Ethernet cord)>>>Modem>>>Wall.
Other top solutions to connect to Xbox Live. Obviously, you can buy a wireless adapter from Microsoft and connect wirelessly to your router. These, however, are very expensive, and definitely not the best option. You can connect through a computer to your router, this would look like this: Console>>>(Ethernet cord)>>> Computer/Laptop>>>(Wirelessly)>>>Router. These connect your console to the router through your power lines. You plug one of them into the wall near the console, and the other near the router. You need two Ethernet cords to use this method, the map will look like this: Console>>>(Ethernet cord)>>>Power line adapter one>>>(power lines)>>>Power line adapter two>>>(Second ethernet cord)>>>Router. Power line adapters are much cheaper than a wireless adapter.
