A Video Matrix Switch is an amalgamation of a video splitter and a video switch which facilitates broadcasting of video output from multiple sources to multiple displays. Audio and video signals can both be broadcasted using these switches. These devices allow a single computer’s video signals to be distributed to multiple outputs and equips the user with the choice to easily switch between multiple video sources as well. A user no longer has to indulge in cable swapping for multiple display and can avoid unnecessary clutter caused due to multiple cables. The video routing switcher lets you individually route any or all inputs to any output or outputs all at the same time.
These video matrix switches are available in various configurations ranging from 2x2 to a 32x16. The matrix switcher distributes and switches video and audio signals from the source to destination covering a distance of up to 1000 feet. Crisp and clear resolution up to 1900x 1200 can be achieved by these devices due to the simple reason that these devices act as distribution amplifiers. They support operating systems like Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, Mac and Sun. Also known as video routers, these devices can be controlled via push buttons on the front of the unit or via IR remote control and RS232 ports. A video matrix is equipped with Liquid Crystal Display for simple front panel operation. A key feature of this matrix switch is that each input can be independently connected to any or all outputs.
In order to achieve large configurations, these units can be cascaded allowing additonal sources to be included in the configuration. Various types of these matrix switchers are available in the market such as the cat5 vga, audio, component, composite, dvi, hdmi, Rackmount ip kvm, and vga types.
A video matrix switch is ideal for presentations and applications where information from multiple computers is being delivered to multiple destinations such as classrooms, exhibitions, trade shows, demonstrations, multi media presentations, entertainment facilities, casinos, hotels and courtrooms.
